It’s November already!
Niagara Catholic has many events and activities happening for our students throughout the month. Read on to find out what’s happening in our schools and across the system.
November 4 is Take Our Kids to Work Day across Niagara. We look forward to welcoming Grade 9 students into the Catholic Education Centre, and wish our Grade 9s going to workplaces across the area a very safe and rewarding experience.
While the Grade 9s are out of school on November 4, Grade 8 students from across Niagara Catholic will get their first taste of life in their future Catholic high school on Grade 8 Day. A number of special events have been planned for the future Thunder, Redmen, Raiders, Gators, Irish, Phoenix, Mustangs and Patriots.
November 6 is Random Act of Kindness Day in Niagara. As always this year, we encourage all Niagara residents to do random acts of kindness wherever they go; whether it’s buying a stranger’s coffee at the drive-thru in the morning, or simply holding a door, sharing a smile or carrying shopping bags to a stranger’s car. Kindness costs nothing, but is worth more than a stack of gold to someone who is in need of a friendly face or word.
November 11 is Remembrance Day, and our students will mark this very solemn day at cenotaphs in their communities, at a prayer and Remembrance Day services in their schools.
Friday, November 13, is a Professional Activity Day for our Elementary and Secondary students. Enjoy the long weekend!
Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week is November 16-20. Across our system, schools will discuss bullying prevention initiatives and strategies and take part in ways to improve the climate in our schools. One of those ways is through the Lead Out Loud Conference, which will take place on November 18.
Elementary Progress Reports will be sent home with students on November 20. Parents will have an opportunity to discuss the progress reports with teachers. Requests for meetings should me made directly with schools.
Niagara Catholic’s Junior Artists Gala will take place on Monday, November 23, from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Catholic Education Centre. Our very talented students in Grades 4-6 will have the chance to have artwork on display at the Catholic Education Centre for the next several weeks. If you are in the Catholic Education Centre, please take a moment to walk around the public spaces in the foyer to see their wonderful artwork.
You’re invited! Lakeshore Catholic High School’s Art Fusion will take place at the school on Thursday, November 26, beginning at 6 p.m. Please bring an unwrapped toy or food donation as your admission.
November 29 is the First Sunday in Advent. If you’re not familiar with Advent, watch this helpful video.
Finally, secondary school mid-term progress reports will go home with students the week of November 30.
Have a fantastic month, and check back December 1 for what is sure to be a VERY busy month at Niagara Catholic!
