Father Denis Warburton
Father Denis Warburton, C.S.C. was a Catholic educator for 30 years, teaching geography and religious studies at Denis Morris Catholic High School and Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School, serving as a teacher, department head and Vice Principal before his retirement in 1995.
Father Denis had a specialization in Media Studies. He served as Media Consultant for the Lincoln County Roman Catholic Separate School Board for eight years. He was that Board’s first Catholic high school chaplain, and it was through his commitment to that role that Father Warburton established a youth retreat through the Diocese of St. Catharines.
Father Denis had a great love of travel, which allowed him to explore people and cultures around the world. His keen interest in developing nations inspired many years of travel to places such as Nigeria and Ethiopia, where he taught courses to teams of teachers.
Fr. Warburton inspired professionals, non-government organizations and members of the business community to support the work of the Holy Cross Sisters in Haiti. He co-ordinated Pilgrimage and Starve-a-Thon events, and programs to inspire teachers to travel to Haiti, so that they could return to Niagara to share their experiences with students.
