Niagara Catholic is proud to announce that Emily Burkholder, a student at Denis Morris Catholic High School in St. Catharines, received the 2014 Margaret MacLennan Youth Volunteer of the Year Award by the City of St. Catharines during the City’s annual volunteer appreciation event on April 15.

Emily is active in her home community and also abroad. She participated in the Niagara Catholic International Co-operative Experience to Dominica and is actively involved in the Me To We campaign.

In an interview with Niagara This Week, Emily noted how important service to others is to her:

“I just enjoy being involved and giving back,” she said Burkholder. “You can make so much more of a difference. We have so many great chances to contribute to our community.”
