Four Niagara Catholic Alumni Ordained

Four Niagara Catholic graduates were ordained as priests in the Diocese of St. Catharines on during a Rite of Ordination to the Sacred Order of Prebyter at St. Alfred Roman Catholic Church on May 21, 2016.

Father Ronald Angervile, Father Stephen Innamorati, Father Trevor Plug and Father Gregory Schmidt were ordained by His Excellency, the Most Reverend Gerard Bergie, D.D., fifth Bishop of St. Catharines, who was the Principal Celebrant for the Mass. Bishop Bergie was joined by Bishop Emeritus His Excellency, the Most Reverend John O’Mara, D.D., third Bishop of St. Catharines.

Father Angervil was born in Haiti and moved to Welland in 2006. He graduated from Notre Dame College School before continuing his faith journey in the seminary. He has been assigned as Associate Pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Grimsby.

Father Innamorati was born in Niagara, and graduated from Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School in St. Catharines. He has been assigned as Associate Pastor of St. Julia Parish in St. Catharines.

Father Plug was also born in Niagara, and graduated from Denis Morris Catholic High School. He has been assigned as Associate Pastor of St. Alfred Parish in St. Catharines.

Father Schmidt was also born in Niagara, and graduated from Lakeshore Catholic High School in Port Colborne. He has been assigned as Associate Pastor of St. Thomas More Parish in Niagara Falls.

Concelebrants included Rev. Monsignor Leo Clutterbuck (Vicar General of the Diocese of St. Catharines), Rev. Father Joseph Gatto (President/Rector of Christ the King Seminary); Rev. Father Hugh Gibson, (Pastor, St. Alfred Parish); Rev. Father Edwin Gonsalves (Rector, St. Augustine’s Seminary), Rev. Father Charles Mosher (Chancellor, Diocese of St. Catharines); Rev. Father Rico Passero (Associate Vocations Director, Diocese of St. Catharines); Rev. Father Paul Pearson (Dean of the Seminar, St. Philip’s Seminary) and Rev. Father Stevan Wlusek, (President/Rector, St. Peter’s Seminary).

The Notary for the Ordination was Rev. Father Michael Basque, V.F., Director of Vocations for the Diocese of St. Catharines and Rev. Father Donald Lizotti, V.F., Rector of the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria was Master of Ceremonies. Reverend Mister Andrew Handrahan, Transitional Deacon, Diocese of Charlottetown, served as Deacon of the Word, and Rev. Mister Samueal Giangreco Jr., Transitional Deacon for the Diocese of Buffalo, was Deacon of the Eucharist. Seminarians Favin Alameo (Archdiocese of Toronto) and Robert Contarin (Diocese of Buffalo) served as Readers.

The Liturgical Ministry for the Ordination Service included Thurifer Frank Berardi (Permanent Deacon Candidate, Diocese of St. Catharines); Crucifer Grayson Hope (Seminarian, Diocese of Hamilton) and Acolytes Mr. Daniel Corso (Seminarian, Diocese of St. Catharines), Martin Gallagher (Seminarian, Diocese of Buffalo), Robert Green (Seminarian, Diocese of St. Catharines) and Jacob Quinlan (Seminarian, Diocese of Hamilton). Stephen Bruzzese (Seminarian, Diocese of St. Catharines) was Book Bearer; Matthew McCarthy (Seminarian, Archdiocese of Toronto) and Robert Renaud (Seminarian, Diocese of London) were the Mitre and Crosier Bearers and bearing the Gifts were Marie Angervil and Janet Nohara, Mark and Teresa Innamorati, Ursula Schmidt and Heather Fazekas and Arthur and Kathleen Plug.

The ordination also included music ministry from a variety of parishes in Niagara.
