"What Canada Means to Me"

City of Niagara Falls, Canada

Gloria Fares, a Grade 8 student at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Elementary School in Niagara Falls, is the first-place winner of the City of Niagara Falls’ annual Canada Day essay contest. Her classmate, Olivia Sottile, placed second in the competition and Eniko Nagy – who was also in Mrs. Mascia’s Grade 8 class – won first place in the poetry competition. The girls will be presented with their prizes by Niagara Falls Mayor Ted Salci at Optimist Park during the Opening Ceremonies for the City’s Canada Day Festivities. The Opening Ceremonies begin at 11:30 a.m.
