In December 1997, the Board approved By-laws to govern its responsibilities. The Board's By-laws reflect the policy model of governance. In addition to the 2 statutory committees mandated by the Education Act, there is a Standing Policy Committee. Ad Hoc committees are established on a needs basis with clearly defined mandates, timelines and reporting structures identified at the time of their inception.

Under the Board's By-laws, trustees meet twice a month, once as a Committee of the Whole and once as a full Board.

All agendas and minutes of public meetings of the Board are published on the Board's website. Copies are also distributed to school councils, various staff and community groups.
