Being a teenage girl comes with many challenges, some as old as time, like peer pressure, and others new, like cyberbullying.

Life in a fully-wired world can lead to a long list of challenges for girls in these difficult years, not the least of them, anxiety and depression.

On February 11, the YWCA of Niagara held its annual Power of Being a Girl Conference, which brought together Grade 10 girls from across the region to talk about what it means to be a girl today. They were challenged to unplug for the session and to think about how they can deal with the pressures of the world around them.
