For several weeks, Niagara Catholic students in six Specialist High Skills Major Programs – Arts and Culture, Business, Construction, Information and Communication, Justice and Community Services and Manufacturing – have been working towards designing, manufacturing and marketing a product they will sell to consumers this Christmas.
After a period of discussion, the students decided to make and sell youth and NHL-sized hockey nets. Students in the Construction and Manufacturing Specialist High Skills Major programs were responsible for creating the nets, while students in the other Specialist High Skills Majors have worked on devising price points, marketing plans and choosing an organization to support with the proceeds of the sale of the nets.
Twenty youth-sized hockey nets are available for sale for $120. Five NHL-sized nets are available for $150. The proceeds from the sale of each net will be donated to the Rankin Cancer Run.
The nets will be available for sale in Niagara Catholic’s retail unit at the Seaway Mall December 2 through December 6, from noon to 8 p.m.
