Niagara Catholic Intermediate Mathletes Test Their Skills

On November 26th and 27th, Niagara Catholic’s top math students in Grades 7 and 8 took part in local competitions, held at their family of schools’ secondary school.

The four-person teams competed against each other for the honour of representing their family of schools at the Board competition at the Catholic Education Centre on December

3rd.

The 10 schools which moved on to the competition at the Catholic Education Centre were:

Alexander Kuska and St. Ann Catholic (Fenwick) Elementary Schools (Notre Dame College School Family of Schools); Loretto Catholic (Saint Michael Catholic High School Family of Schools); Mother Teresa (Saint Francis Catholic Secondary School Family of Schools); Our Lady of Victory and St. George Catholic Elementary Schools (Lakeshore Catholic Family of Schools); St. Martin Catholic Elementary School (Blessed Trinity Catholic Secondary School Family of Schools), St. Mary (NF) Catholic Elementary School (Saint Paul Catholic Secondary School Family of Schools); St. Martin Catholic Elementary School (Blessed Trinity Catholic Secondary School Family of Schools), St. Michael Catholic Elementary School (Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School Family of Schools) and St. Peter (Denis Morris Catholic High School Family of Schools).

Congratulations to the team from Loretto Catholic - Hunter Murdoch, Carlee Ibey, Kurtis Henry, Anusha Chacko, and Taya Lafontaine, led by coach Susy Walsh. The Loretto Catholic team was the only one to successfully answer the final problem within the 30-minute time frame.
