Niagara Catholic Skills Competition 2023

Twenty-three Niagara Catholic students will head to Skills Ontario this spring, after winning gold medals in the Board’s annual Technology Skills Competition.

Another nine students will compete in regional qualifiers following their gold or silver placement in the competition.

This year’s event ran from February 27-March 1 at a variety of locations across Niagara, including at secondary schools, Niagara College and at Seaway Mall.

Regardless of whether they went home with a medal, we are extremely proud of every student who participated throughout the week. They have learned skills they may use as future careers, to build upon a hobby, or to simply be the go-to person at home or among friends for a fabulous dinner, amazing video presentation or home or auto repair.

This event would not be possible without the outstanding community partnerships Niagara Catholic has with the following businesses and organizations:

  • Seaway Mall
  • Cappa School of Hairstyling
  • Cotton Construction
  • Dan Cutajar Media
  • Dewalt Canada
  • Dawland Farms Landscaping
  • Ferrell Building Supply
  • International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 303
  • Job Gym

Each year, Niagara Catholic recognizes a partner in the Skills Competition, and this year Cappa Hairstyling and Aesthetics was honoured with the Friends of Niagara Catholic Award. This year’s award was accepted by Cappa’s owner Franca Filice and instructor Sasha Conhiser.

Cappa not only received an award, it also handed one out, with Saint Michael Catholic High School student Trinity Ptasnyk receiving a $500 scholarship to the school for September 2023.
