Niagara Catholic Student Leadership Symposium Ignites Fire in Students

Student leaders from across Niagara Catholic participated in the annual Student Leadership Symposium at Club Roma on May 12.

During this event, which focused on building student leadership across the system, students listened to a presentation by Stu Saunders, a motivational speaker, Director and Owner of  Youth Leadership Camps Canada (YLCC) and Founder and Owner of the Youth Leadership Training Centre.

The presentation focused on what he considers the seven most important traits in good leadership for young people. These include:

  • Understanding that you don’t know everything
  • The importance of being kind
  • Small stuff matters
  • Never stop asking questions
  • Always say thank you
  • Celebrate every day like a kid, have fun
  • You don’t have to be a star to be a leader

At the end of the day, the students selected the 2016-2017 Student Senate Co-Chairs and Student Trustees. That information is available in a media release

issued after the event.
