Niagara Catholic to Host Third Annual Recycle Your Electronics Event

Niagara Catholic will celebrate Earth Week by holding its third annual Recycle Your Electronics event at the Catholic Education Centre. The public is invited to drop off unwanted electronic items inside the blue bin which will be located outside the Catholic Education Centre at 427 Rice Road in Welland from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. April 22-25. Acceptable items include:

  • Display devices, such as monitors and televisions
  • Desktop and portable computers and computer accessories
  • Printers, fax machines, scanners and photocopiers
  • Cell phones and pagers
  • Home theatre systems, including amplifiers, equalizers, speakers, tuners and turntables
  • Aftermarket car audio and video devices
  • Cameras, slide projectors and video cameras
  • VCRs and DVD players

The items will be picked up and will be properly recycled. In 2013, Niagara Catholic diverted eight metric tonnes of e-waste from landfills and raised nearly $1,500 for the Niagara Catholic Helping Hands Fund, which assists families throughout Niagara Catholic during times of crisis or financial need. For those who are not in Welland, items may be delivered to a Niagara Catholic school in your community and they will make arrangements to deliver items to the Catholic Education Centre.
