Congratulations to Nicholas Ierfino, a student at Saint Michael Catholic High School, who recently won the silver medal in the electronics category at Skills Canada in Winnipeg.
He was one of two Niagara Catholic students who participated as part of Team Ontario at the national event May 31-June 3. His teammate, Hunter Spice from Saint Paul Catholic High School, finished fourth in the Culinary competition, garnering him an Honourable Mention. His teacher, Vincenza Smith, said Hunter was “definitely noticed by the judges! He received many, many compliments on his work, style and the fact that he was a true gentleman.” Hunter will have dinner this Thursday with the president of Niagara College and the Board members.
We are extremely grateful to Niagara College for providing Hunter with equipment and tool boxes, along with allowing him to practice his skills three or four times a week at the Canadian Food and Wine Institute at Niagara College, and value this wonderful partnership between our two institutions. We are also very grateful to Nicholas and Hunter’s teachers and mentors, Paul Cianflone of Saint Michael Catholic High School and Chef Smith of Saint Paul Catholic High School. Their commitment in dedicating their time to mentor and train their students allows them to experience valuable opportunities like this to help shape their futures.Good News, Media Stream
