Responsibilities

As a member of the Board’s Senior Administrative team, Niagara Catholic’s Superintendents report directly to the Director of Education. This position requires Ontario Supervisory Officer’s Qualifications, familiarity with various aspects of school board operations including, but not limited to, Curriculum, Special Education programs, School Improvement planning, processes to support School effectiveness, Human Resources and Business operations, demonstrated leadership skills, a capacity for personal growth and development.

Niagara Catholic’s Superintendents have a strong commitment to Catholic education, knowledge of the Education Act and are current on recent changes in the field of education.

Research, Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting Department

The Research, Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting Department supports all elementary and secondary schools, Principals, Vice-Principals, teaching and support staff by providing resources and training to improve the student achievement of all students in collaboration with the Program, Special Education and Staff Development Departments.  The Research, Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting Department develops the Board Improvement Plan for Student Achievement and supports School Improvement Planning.

 Safe and Accepting Schools

Catholic schools in the Niagara Catholic District School Board foster safe, inclusive and accepting school environments so that all students can achieve success.  By building capacity with schools to implement the provincial, Board and school’s Code of Conduct, along with Safe Schools legislation, Board Policy, Strategies, resources and school climate surveys, all students can have a positive learning experience.

Mental Health and Addictions

The  NCDSB through the charisms of faith, social justice, support and leadership, nurtures an enriching Catholic learning community for all to reach their full potential and become living witnesses of Christ.  A student’s mental health and well-being is essential to a student’s growth, development and achievement in school.  The Board’s Mental Health and Addictions Strategy provides a framework for all students and staff to strive for positive mental  health and wellness within a Catholic community that understands and reinforces the importance of mental health promotion, prevention and intervention.  With the Niagara Catholic Mental Health Team: Superintendent of Education,  Mental Health Lead, Supervisor of Counselling Services, Social Workers and Child and Youth Workers,  a commitment has been made to the mental wellness of all students in the Board.

 Niagara Catholic Parent Involvement Committee

The Niagara Catholic Parent Involvement Committee as supported by the Niagara Catholic District School Board promotes active parent engagement with all parents/guardians in all schools for the improvement of student achievement and the well-being of all students in the Niagara Catholic District School Board.  The Committee holds bi-monthly meetings throughout the school year. more »
