Chess In the fall of 2003, Niagara Catholic approved the integration of an invitational Chess Instructional Program within Grades 3 and 4. The pilot program was extremely well received and has now expanded to include grades 1 through 12.
Cyberquest Cyberquest is a technology-based program delivered to all grade 7 and 8 students throughout Niagara Catholic.
DramaFest A celebration of student theatre. Performances take place at Brock University.
EcoSchools Niagara Catholic takes conservation and sustainable living seriously. We are currently the only Board in the province with all of its schools actively participating in the Ontario EcoSchools initiative. more >>
Extreme Tech Ed Extreme Tech Ed is an innovative community program initiative currently offered as part of many Technological Studies courses throughout Niagara Catholic. These enriched technology programs will better prepare students for post-secondary education, apprenticeship training or for the world of work.
Projects that meet the Extreme Tech Ed criteria are creative, community- based social justice projects, which provide an enriching extension of the technological education curriculum expectations.
Festival d’Art Oratoire An opportunity for students to write and deliver speeches in French and possibly attend the annual Festival/Concours d’art ortoire held in Toronto.
First Lego League An international program which engages students in hands-on robotics design and authentic scientific research culminating in high-energy, sports-like tournaments.
A Forest of Reading The Ontario Library Association’s Literacy Initiative.
Historica! Fairs The Historica Fairs program encourages students to explore Canadian heritage.
Outdoor Studies Located in the historic community of St. Johns West, the St. John Valley Centre offers numerous programs for students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade Four. more >>
Regional Science Fair The Niagara Regional Science and Engineering Fair is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to the encouragement of science in students within the Niagara Region. The fair is a prestigious annual science event within the region sponsored by local businesses at Brock University.
Speak Out! The Speak Out Showcase is sponsored by the Niagara Catholic District School Board and the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association – Niagara Elementary Unit. This festival engages students in the art of oral communication, provides students with an avenue to share their learning experiences and promotes self-confidence in a public speaking forum.
Successful candidates progress from classroom to school and finally to area competitions. Each school has the opportunity to send one junior and one intermediate delegate to compete. The two successful speakers from each area competition are then invited to showcase their talents at the Catholic Education Centre.
