Committee of the Whole Recommends Policies

During the April 4 Committee of the Whole Meeting, Trustees recommended one revised Policy be sent to the April 25 Board Meeting for approval.

Once approved, the Trustee Honorarium Policy (100.11) will available in the Policies section of the Board website for public review.


 

Capital Projects Update

Each month, Trustees are provided with an update of capital projects currently in development with Niagara Catholic.

Sewer work is now complete at St. Martin, water service is installed, and the electrical ducts are also in place. Roofing is nearing completion and the parking lot curbing and asphalt is complete. The masonry veneer is nearly finished, window installation is underway and painting has begun.

Students will be in the new $10-million school beginning in September, 2017.

Meanwhile, the tender for the $4.5-million, nine-room addition to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Elementary School in Grimsby has been awarded to Brouwer Construction (1981) Ltd. of St. Catharines.

This project consists of six classrooms and three child care rooms, and includes improvements to parking, landscaping and walkways, as well as the demolition of the former Cyberquest program building.


 

Alternative Learning Programs

During the April 4 Committee of the Whole Meeting, Trustees received an update on the various Alternative Learning Programs available to students.

Among the programs and services available to students in need of alternative learning are the Pope Francis Centre, Niagara Catholic LINK, the Supervised Alternative Learning Plan (SALP), the Saint Kateri Centre, a Community Outreach Teacher out Young Parent Support Program, Parent Support Program and Children Youth in Care.
