On Sunday, October 26th, Niagara Catholic’s 39th Annual Pilgrimage will take place throughout Niagara.
This very visible event – one of the high points of the school year for our secondary students – brings together approximately 4,000 students, staff, parents and alumni for a walk in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in developing nations around the world.
Since Notre Dame College School held the Pilgrimage in 1975, Niagara Catholic has raised more than $6.2 million for projects in Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Haiti, Rwanda and Peru, and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace.
This year, our pilgrims will walk in their communities in Grimsby, Niagara Falls, Port Colborne, St. Catharines and Welland. Their days begin early and their walks are long; symbolic of the struggles people in the developing world make to go to school, get fresh water or medical treatment. Please support participants in any way you can, whether it is through a cash donation or through your prayers.
Join the excitement on Twitter using #NCPilgrimage2014 and be sure to check out our photo gallery early next week. In the meantime, take a look back at last year’s Pilgrimage here. For those of you interested in walking with us, please note the following times:
