Three Niagara Catholic Students Earn Berths at Skills Canada in Moncton

Congratulations to Yaman Abouibaid, Alex DiPaola and Justin Schulz, who will represent Niagara Catholic and Team Ontario at the Skills Canada competition in Moncton, NB, June 5-8.

Alex, a Grade 12 student at Notre Dame College School, won Gold in the Mechanical CADD entry at Skills Ontario at RIM Park May 2-3 and won the Top Secondary Score Award for all of Ontario. Justin, a Grade 12 student at Lakeshore Catholic High School, won Gold in Individual Carpentry. Yaman, a Grade 10 student at Denis Morris Catholic High School, won a Silver in the competition, but will participate in Skills Canada in place of the Gold medal winner.

Cara Lozano a Grade 12 student at Blessed Trinity Catholic Secondary School won gold in the Landscape Design category, which is not extended to Skills Canada. Quentin Petkovich, a Grade 12 student at Saint Paul Catholic High School won Silver in the Culinary Arts event, and Nicholas Ierfino, a Grade 11 student at Saint Michael Catholic High School, won Silver in the Electronics competition.

The team of Patrick Raymond and Jason Doucette, Grade 12 students at Saint Michael Catholic High School, won Bronze in the 3D Animation competition, and Rebecca Collins and Hunter Leyenhorst,  Grade 12 students at Blessed Trinity Catholic Secondary School,  also won a Bronze in their event, TV and Video Production.
