April is a very busy month across Niagara Catholic! We have many wonderful things happening in our schools and are pleased to share them with you.
Grade 7 students across Niagara Catholic will participate in the annual Grade 7 Faith Festival April 2 and 3 at St. Alfred Roman Catholic Church in St. Catharines. Father Tony is a dynamic speaker who has a wonderful connection with young people, and students come away from his presentations inspired by his faith.
Blessed Trinity Catholic Secondary School’s drumline will be among many high school drumlines from across Ontario competing at Drumline Ontario’s Drumline Competition at Blessed Trinity April 5. The event runs from 5 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Tickets cost $5 per person and are only available at the door. All funds raised will support Blessed Trinity’s music program.
Niagara Catholic will publicly thank the many volunteers who bring their time and talents into our schools as volunteers during the annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast on April 7. Whether it is as a guest speaker on Career Day, a classroom or lunchroom helper or as a member of the Catholic School Council, volunteers bring so much to our students and we are grateful they share their knowledge and experience.

The 11th Annual Bishop’s Gala will take place at Club Roma on Saturday, April 12. During this event, Niagara Catholic will recognize the late Monsignor Matthew Clifford, the 2014 recipient of the Niagara Catholic Education Award of Distinction. Join us during Holy Week, a very important time across Niagara Catholic. Throughout this week, students will participate in a number of liturgies, para-liturgies and re-enactments of the Stations of the Cross. Check your child’s school website for details about Holy Week activities.
Join us as stewards of the Earth during Earth Week by dropping off your unwanted electronic items at the Catholic Education Centre for safe and ecological disposal in our Third Annual Recycle Your Electronics Event. The bin will be open Tuesday, April 22 to Friday, April 25, from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Parents, guardians and family members are invited to Niagara Catholic’s annual Heritage Fair at Brock University’s Pond Inlet on April 23. Students have been hard at work for weeks, researching people and places from Canadian history and presenting them at school. The culmination of this event is the Heritage Fair.
Each year, the United Way runs a campaign from fall through early winter. In addition to supporting the annual campaign, Niagara Catholic holds an extra day in April to raise funds and awareness for the agencies supported by our local United Ways in Niagara. On April 23, our students and staff will participate in a number of activities in support of this very worthy cause.
The Niagara Catholic Elementary Chess Tournament will take place at the Fairview Mall on Thursday, April 24. The event begins at 10 a.m.
Ease on down the road April 24-27 and don’t miss The Wiz, Blessed Trinity Catholic Secondary School’s very first student musical. Niagara Catholic is pleased to showcase the artwork of our very talented student artists at the Catholic Education Centre throughout the year. Parents, guardians, family members and friends are encouraged to join us at the Catholic Education Centre April 29 at 6:30 p.m. for the official launch of the Primary Artists Gallery.
