Leah Sandel throws herself into her sport

Massive congratulations to Leah Sandel, who threw her way to gold and silver medals at the MTA Outdoor Championships in Brampton, this summer. Leah, entering Grade 9 at Lakeshore Catholic High School in September, claimed the gold in senior shot put with an impressive throw of 10.49 metres, and a silver in senior discus, with a 23.36 metre throw.
The following week, Leah earned a bronze medal in the U16 3kg hammer throw, (throwing it 33.61 metres) at the Ontario U14/16/18 combined events championship at the Niagara Olympic Club. She also finished fifth in shot put and discus at the event.
Leah, who trains with the Thorold Elite Track Club, competed at the Legion Canadian Youth Track and Field Championships in Regina in August.
