Niagara Catholic’s Kindergarten curriculum is a place where our youngest learners play, learn, and grow together in faith. The revised kindergarten curriculum will be implemented in September 2026 and gives students a strong start in all areas of learning, with an emphasis on reading, writing, math, science, and technology. The new curriculum intends to give your child the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in Grade 1 by using proven teaching methods geared to your child's age and development.
Most parents are familiar with the Junior Kindergarten (JK)/Senior Kindergarten (SK) model with students starting with students their own age and moving together to the next level. Today, students in kindergarten learn together in a two-year program (year one and year two) led by an Ontario certified teacher and designated early childhood educator to support each child in developing foundational skills through evidence-based explicit instructions in play- and inquiry-based learning environments. Kindergarten at Niagara Catholic is a safe, supportive, faith-filled environment designed to nurture a child’s natural curiosity, help them grow in faith, and foster a love of learning.
