
The Denis Morris Reds are making a return trip to OFSAA after a pair of impressive wins at the Southern Ontario Secondary Schools Association (SOSSA) girls AA soccer playdowns Wednesday at E.L. Crossley.
The Reds defeated the host Cyclone 4-0 in one semifinal before blanking Dundas Valley 5-0 in the final to punch their ticket to the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations championships in Belleville.
DM coach Laura Petroff is pleased to be making a return trip to OFSAA.
“We were hopeful in the sense that our team lost players from last year, but we still have a strong core of girls that were remaining with us for this year,” she said. “So we were hopeful that we had a chance. But you never know year to year what players other schools are going to get coming into Grade 9 and everything like that. So we kind of were hopeful, but we’re also kind of realistic about what might still happen.”
