Posted on 01/13/2025

A huge congratulations to Grade 11 student Caileigh Tiller from Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School for her outstanding performance and well-deserved victory at the 2025 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship! Caileigh was a vital part of Team Canada’s victory, helping secure a commanding 3-0 shutout over the United States in Vantaa, Finland, on Sunday.

The game started with a tense and scoreless first period, with both teams battling for control. Caileigh, a St. Catharines native, broke the deadlock in the second period with a power-play goal just past the eight-minute mark, giving Canada a crucial 1-0 lead. Her determination and skill on the ice set the tone for the rest of the game. The Canadian team would go on to extend their lead, scoring twice more—first with a goal midway through the third period and then sealing the win with an empty-net goal in the final two minutes. This victory marks Canada’s eighth gold medal at the U18 Women’s World Championship, further solidifying the country’s dominance in the tournament with past wins in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, and now 2025.

In addition to her remarkable achievement on the world stage, Caileigh and her twin sister, Chelsea Tiller, are both committed to playing NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Connecticut, having accepted full athletic scholarships. Their dedication to the sport is truly inspiring, and their success at such a high level is a testament to their hard work and perseverance.
