Celebrating 65 years at St. Patrick Port Colborne
A 65th birthday or anniversary is a celebration, but it often focuses more on what has been than what is yet to be.
But at St. Patrick Catholic Elementary School in Port Colborne, celebrating 65 years was a chance to look back on an incredible history of Catholic education in the city, and to look toward the future.
That’s exactly more than 120 people did on September 19, when the school hosted is 65th anniversary celebrations. Past and current students and staff, including students who started at the school when it opened in 1959, stopped by to walk the halls, sharing stories and memories about their time at St. Patrick. As part of the celebrations, Fr. Wieslaw (Wes) Woloszyn blessed the school, and current students and staff received special 65th anniversary t-shirts, which they can use as spirit wear.
“It was a real community event,” said principal Mary Kay Kalagian.
