Congratulations to one of Niagara Catholic’s newest
employees, Samuel Okema, now one of Canada’s newest
citizens.
Samuel joined Niagara Catholic in June as a Senior Financial
Analyst and became a Canadian citizen November 6.
He came to Canada from Uganda five years ago as a new
immigrant to study and graduated with an MBA from the
University of Windsor, and post-graduate Advanced Professional
Accounting Diploma from York University. He applied for
citizenship April and began preparing to take the citizenship test
in July.
Samuel was unfortunately unable to attend his citizenship
ceremony, so his team in Finance surprised him with a party and
special ceremony at the Catholic Education Centre December
16.
After welcoming Samuel to Canada as a new citizen, Niagara
Centre MP Vance Badawey presented him with a certificate
showing celebrating his new Canadian citizenship. He also
presented Samuel with a Canadian flag and pin, and the guests
joined Samuel and MP Badawey in singing O Canada.
“It was such a heartfelt moment, and I’m truly grateful to
Mr. Badawey for taking time out of his busy schedule to
congratulate me,” said Samuel. “To the finance team and
the entire Niagara Catholic team, thank you for the amazing
surprise and support—it means the world to me! Your kindness
has left a lasting mark on my heart. I’m so proud and happy
to be part of this wonderful community. When love is the way,
we treat everyone as family, thank you for heartfelt surprise!”
It was a moving celebration and a lovely opportunity to
officially welcome Samuel as a new Canadian.
Congratulations, Samuel!
