
Dedication, hard work and self-discipline are the three biggest improvements Damien Decembrini has made in his game in the last year.
“It’s early mornings — working out at 5 in the morning every single day — running, joining a track club and pushing myself harder than I have ever done before,” the Grade 12 student at Saint Paul said Tuesday, prior to a signing ceremony held to celebrate his commitment to play National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics football with the Ave Maria University Gyrenes, about 20 minutes from Naples, Fla.
The 17-year-old Niagara Falls resident knows there is still plenty of work ahead.
“The biggest thing for me will be to continue to work on my mentality knowing that one setback isn’t the end. It is always pushing through and making the most of every single opportunity I get.”
