Katerina Vassiliev made the most of her one and only appearance at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association wrestling championships.

Competing at the provincial event March 3-4 in Peterborough, the Grade 12 student at Holy Cross won a silver medal in the 51-kilogram division.

The 18-year-old St. Catharines resident started wrestling in May 2024 with the Brock Junior Badgers and last year there was no wrestling program at Holy Cross. She was only able to wrestle at the club level until this season, placing fourth at provincials in 2026.

“I love competing and I wanted to get in more competitions. I know OFSAA is a big accomplishment and I wanted to see if I could achieve something there.”
