Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Tim Bisci is not overflowing with confidence that his senior football team can claim its sixth straight Niagara Catholic Athletic Association championship.
The Irish improved to 3-0 Thursday night with a 44-16 victory over the visiting Denis Morris Reds but his squad was far from perfect.
“We are winning in spite of ourselves. I think we had 100 yards of penalties in the first half and we took 25 yards in penalties on the first two plays. Time and time again we are shooting ourselves in the foot and we still put 44 up on a team,” he said. “That’s a good football team and it shows how good we could be. It’s frustrating because we are so young and it’s almost like our maturity level isn’t there yet and they don’t get it. We want to play how we practice and we are not doing that.”
