Mental Health Week at Niagara Catholic!
Posted on 05/05/2025

Niagara Catholic recognizes the strong connection between our faith and mental health and well-being. For many years, the board has recognized the interconnection of Mental Health Week and Catholic Education Week, which both take place during the first week of May.
This year’s theme for Mental Health Week in Canada is Unmasking Mental Health.
Much like our Catholic faith, a focus on creating and supporting caring, inclusive schools and workspaces where all are welcome and can thrive, is woven into all we do at Niagara Catholic. Our goal is to ensure every member of our school community feels seen, heard and valued.
Throughout Mental Health Week, schools will participate in activities that encourage conversations around mental health and promote the overall wellbeing of students and staff. These initiatives include lessons and events focused on both mental and physical wellness. We know that physical activity releases endorphins that boost our mood and help us cope with stress and anxiety. Schools will get students moving through sports tournaments and events like Jump Rope for Heart.
Students are also invited to reflect on how their faith and well-being are interconnected through art, writing, and music.
