
Back to back may be one of the most overused phrases in sport, but it’s simply music to the ears of the Blessed Trinity Thunder varsity girls lacrosse team.
The Thunder, on their home field, used a strong second quarter against Notre Dame 15-3 to capture their second straight Niagara Catholic Athletic Association title Wednesday.
More importantly for coach Sara Tritchew and her charges is a return trip to the Trillium Cup (provincial high school championship) to improve upon their fourth place finish a year ago.
“We really would like to see a medal this year,” she said. “Especially with the crew that we have this year. Last year, we had injuries in the Trillium Cup semis that we feel pushed us out of medal contention, so this year we are definitely aiming to bring home some hardware.”
