Niagara Catholic Receives Copies of Niagara on Fire for Schools

Niagara Catholic was recently presented with copies of Niagara on Fire, a 13-minute, locally produced docu-drama, which depicts the American occupation of Niagara-on-the-Lake on December 10, 1813, and the destruction left in their wake, including the burning of the town.

This DVD will be a valuable resource for teachers as they teach about Niagara’s important role in Canadian history.

Janice Baretto Mendonca, the Board’s Equity and Student Leadership Consultant and also Niagara Catholic’s representative on the 1812 Bicentennial Education Committee accepted the gift on behalf of the Board. Joining her in the photo are the film’s director, Mario Iaizzo (left) and producer Tony Chisholm.

We are grateful for the extremely generous donation from the Niagara-on-the-Lake War of 1812 Bicentennial Committee.
