Four Niagara Catholic students travelled to Poland this month, to compete in the International World Dance Championship.
Victoria Borsodi, Maria DellaMonache, Chanelle Coleman Selman and Marisa Sherk were part of Team Canada (East), which included 32 dancers from Ontario and Quebec. The competition included 1,835 students from 24 countries, and the students competed in Jazz, Modern Dance and Ballet. The Ballet team won a Gold medal in the competition finals, and the Jazz team placed fifth in the finals. The Modern dance team placed 12th in the competition.
Chanelle’s small groups in Jazz and Ballet each one a Bronze medal, and her Modern small group placed 12th in the competition. The youngest dancer, Marisa, received a Bronze medal for her Modern Duet, and advanced to the finals in three additional routines, earning two fourth places and one sixth place.
This was an outstanding opportunity for the young dancers to meet students from around the world, and to travel to a part of the world they might not otherwise see. They also forged friendships with other members of the Canadian team and with dancers from other countries. Congratulations!Good News, Media Stream
