Niagara Catholic Welcomes Vatican’s Representative in Canada to Catholic Education Centre

Niagara Catholic was extremely honoured to welcome Most Reverend Luigi Bonazzi, the Apostolic Nuncio to Canada, to the Catholic Education Centre November 27.

In Niagara to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Diocese of St. Catharines, His Excellency travelled to Welland to concelebrate Mass with Bishop Bergie and outgoing Board Chair, Father Paul MacNeil, for staff at the Catholic Education Centre, trustees and members of Niagara Catholic’s Student Senate.

Following Mass, our very special guest enjoyed a lunch and conversation with students, discussing issues that are important to them, and with his hosts.

This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our students – who receive a letter from him upon high school graduation – and staff, and we thank Bishop Bonazzi for remaining in Niagara long enough to visit the Catholic Education Centre.

We also thank the Culinary Arts students from Notre Dame College School, under the guidance of Chef Chris Begin, who prepared and served the lunch for Bishop Bonazzi and guests. The meal and service was, as always, impeccable.
