Michael Jacques can’t read. He can’t write, either. But in June, he wrote a book called Can’t Read, Can’t Write, Here’s My Book, about his life with autism and an intellectual disability.
For the past few weeks Michael has been making the rounds promoting the story of his life, written using text-to-speech technology on his iPad, including a recent presentation at the Welland Public Library and an appearance this morning (September 20) on Breakfast Television in Toronto.
Michael attended Notre Dame College School in Welland, and currently works at Sobey’s in Fonthill. He’s become a bit of a local celebrity since hitting the book stumping circuit, and Here’s My Book is currently on back order. You can order your copy here
In the meantime, be sure to watch the fantastic interview with Michael and his sister Kaila, who helped him in the publishing process, from Breakfast Television here.
Congratulations, Michael! We are all extremely proud of you!Good News
