The Education Quality and Accountability Office in Ontario is responsible for ensuring that students receive a quality education.
Standardized assessments of math and literacy take place in Grades 3 and 6 at the elementary level. A Grade 9 mathematics assessment and Grade 10 literacy assessment are completed in high school. Students must pass the Grade 10 literacy test to meet graduation requirements.
An EQAO assessment is a moment in time, and only indicates how a student did on that particular assessment. It is an important tool to help Niagara Catholic understand student achievement, but it is one of only many ways Niagara Catholic evaluates student success.
Board and school results are posted on the EQAO website every fall.
