On September 17, the F.U.E.L (Females Using Energy for Life) Club at Saint Michael Catholic High School hosted a girls-only event that brought together 1,000 Mustangs and future Mustangs to talk about issues affecting girls and young women today.
F.U.E.L members meet weekly to work out and discuss topics of interest to them, including the use of social media, body image and physical and mental health. This group recently received a $20,000 grant from the government and committed a portion of those funds to the F.U.E.L. the Soul event at the school.
Dr. Karyn Gordon, an internationally known psychologist and motivational speaker, delivered a very dynamic presentation to girls in Grades 6-12. Dr. Gordon spoke about healthy relationships, positive body image, the link between health and fitness and the reduction of anxiety, peer pressure, safe use of social media and respecting their bodies.Good News, Media Stream, Uncategorized
