St. Nicholas Students Spend Day at City Hall

visitStudents from St. Nicholas Catholic Elementary School made the short walk down Church Street June 19, to learn a little bit about life at City Hall.

While there, the students met with Mayor Walter Sendzik about his role as head of council, and even gave the youngsters a lesson in democracy, polling them on which flavours of ice cream they expect to be available in St. Catharines this summer.

We value our great democracy, and it’s great when our civic leaders take time to share their experiences with your youngest citizens. Informed citizens make engaged citizens and future voters. Thanks to everyone who helped make this trip possible for our students.
