Students and Staff at St. Peter Catholic Elementary School Support World Down Syndrome Day

St. Peter Catholic Elementary School in St. Catharines is blessed by the presence of three students who have Down Syndrome.

Down Syndrome is a genetic condition that causes delays in physical and intellectual development. It occurs in one in every 691 live births. Individuals with Down Syndrome have 47 chromosomes instead of the usual 46. It is the most frequently occurring chromosomal disorder.

March 21st was World Down Syndrome Day, and students and staff at the school showed solidarity with the three students by wearing brightly coloured socks.
