Welcome back to a brand new year! It’s hard to believe we’re almost at the halfway point of the 2014-2015 school year. January is another very busy month at Niagara Catholic, and we invite you to read on for details about what’s happening at our schools and sites across the system.
All Grade 8 students are invited to visit their neighbourhood Niagara Catholic secondary school to learn more about becoming a part of the Thunder, Redmen, Raiders, Gators, Irish, Phoenix, Mustangs or Patriots in September 2015. Make the #NCSmartChoice and register to attend one of our eight Catholic high schools today.
Our Kindergarten Open House and registration will take place at ALL Niagara Catholic elementary schools on January 14. Parents are invited to visit their neighbourhood Catholic elementary school between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to register their child.
The following documents are required to complete the registration: Birth certificate, baptism certificate, Ontario Health Card and Proof of Immunization and proof of address. We look forward to welcoming your son or daughter to a Niagara Catholic school in September as they begin their journey in Catholic education.
One of the most special ways we celebrate is through our annual Baby Celebration. This annual event brings together staff who had babies in the previous year for a morning of celebration with their little ones at the Catholic Education Centre.
This year’s Baby Celebration will take place on Wednesday, January 14. We look forward to welcoming the newest members of the Niagara Catholic family – the Class of 2032 – to the Catholic Education Centre for a morning of fun and fellowship.
A quick reminder: January 16 is an elementary Professional Development Day.
Secondary exams take place from January 23 through January 29. Good luck to all students writing their exams.
January 27 is Family Literacy Day, and Niagara Catholic will celebrate it by hosting a system-wide event aimed at promoting literacy. This new Family Literacy Day program will take place at Monsignor Clancy Catholic Elementary School in Thorold, and will include a Scrabble Tournament and a Spelling Bee/Word Challenge and other literacy activities throughout the day.
Parents are welcome to attend this event and are encouraged to participate in our Scrabble Tournament and Spelling Bee. Please contact your child’s school to participate.
January 30 is a secondary Professional Activity Day. The second semester begins on Monday, February 2.
Have a spectacular month!
