Welcome back to a new and exciting school year at Niagara Catholic!
Welcome back to our returning families, and a very special welcome to our new families joining us at Niagara Catholic. Whether you are a longtime Niagara resident putting your first child in school, or you’re new to the area and enrolled your children in one or more of our schools, thank you for entrusting their education to our care.
We also welcome our new staff to Niagara Catholic. We’re sure you’ll find you’ve joined a faith-filled, supportive community where everyone is welcome.
A new year brings the promise of many wonderful things to come. New opportunities to grow in faith, learn new things, explore new gifts and talents, and make new friends. We hope all our students will be fearless in trying new things and in reaching out to each other to make new connections with classmates.
Speaking of new, you may notice that our website looks a little bit different than it did when you registered your child for school. For the past year, our Communications team has been working on this new board website. From top to bottom it has been rewritten and redesigned. Our good news and calendar are now front and centre on the page, and you can easily access key pieces of information right from the front page of the site. We hope you’re as excited about this as we are! Next up – we’re working on school sites that will roll out in the fall.
A quick reminder for parents that the new school year brings in new rules for cell phones in schools. All students up to Grade 6 may not use their phone during the school day unless it is for learning at the direction of their teacher. Phones must be kept out of site and on silent mode throughout the school day. Students in Grades 7-12 may access their phone outside of class time, but during class time they must be out of sight and on silent mode. More information about this is available on our elementary and secondary FAQ pages (available under Parents). The Ministry of Education has a new website with this information in other languages. You can find the information online here.
Soon all our events and activities will be in action. As always, we encourage you to follow Niagara Catholic on Facebook, Twitter (now X) and Instagram, and to follow any social media accounts at your child’s school.
As always, we look forward to getting photos of your children on the first day of school. A couple of reminders:
- Please only send photos of your own children. If you take a photo at school and other students are visible, we cannot post them due to privacy rules.
- Please do not send photos of your children holding those cute boards with their personal information such as their name and interests on them. While they're great for sharing with family and for memories to look back on in years to come, that information is better off in a scrapbook.
Send your photos to [email protected] as attached jpgs in full size. Anything else won't be suitable for use in our newsletter.
Have a great first day, everyone! We wish all students, staff, and families a fun, faith-filled year of learning, laughter, and love.
