Word on the Street Written Word Festival

Aspiring writers from Niagara Catholic’s eight Catholic secondary schools participated in the annual Inspiring Writers’ Conference on Wednesday.

This year’s event was a departure of sorts from its usual speakers’ series. This year’s Conference, titled Word on the Street, focused on street and performance artists and poetry, including the outstanding Britta B, Blue Jay, Charity Beland, Faduma Mohamed, Mona Mousa and Testament AKA Matthew Jones.

The day began with Britta B at the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre in the morning, before students moved between the PAC, Brock’s Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts, Mahtay Cafe, Cafe Luxe  and Fine Grind Cafe in the afternoon to experience seeing artists perform in a true-to-life setting.
